2007 Grand Marshal Mike Rosney hands out beads at end of parade route

Mike and his wife Geraldine are the owner’s of a marvelous hotel in Killarney, Ireland, called the Killeen House. The Killeen House Pub is noted worldwide for the thousands of golf balls and bag tags that line the walls.  Hotel guests not only enjoy the numerous golf courses in Ireland but also “serve themselves” by pouring their own pint at the pub.

Mike was selected as Grand Marshall at a meeting held at the Killeen House last September (2006). In attendance were previous Grand Marshalls: Harry Morel, Jr., Thomas “Junior” Finnegan, Ivar Quigley, and Denis Coffee.  Also assisting in the selection process was Mick Hickey, President of Hickey Industrial Waste Company of Portmarnock, across Hoath Bay, northeast of Dublin.  Non-voting representatives from America included: Paddy Quigley, Crews LeBlanc, Dr. Mark “Dawg” Walker, Charlie Tyler and the Mockler Brothers, Tim and Pat. “Even though their votes were not recognized, there were attempts in understanding what they said”, noted quick speaking local linguist, Tim O’Brien.

Mike Rosney is well known throughout the Emerald Isle as a “Publican” but is more so recognized for authoring and publishing that famous Irish ditty,  “Cats on the Rooftop” heard everyday in pubs through Ireland.  Even though Mike hails from Waterville in West County Kerry, he has always wanted to be known as a “Buffo”, referring to his desired allegiance to County Offaly
