Santa's Peppermint Candy Door Hanging

Supplies: 1 1/2' wide ribbon (in photo it is 2 1/2" wide); green/red peppermints; red or green ribbon to tie the peppermints together; hot glue

Candies tied together with string is step one

For children who have the skill of tying knots down, this craft may occupy some time and give them an end product that they will be proud to hang. It consists of ~6" pieces of ribbon tied around a piece of peppermint wrapper. That is then tied to another longer ribbon. Many of these are tied together to look "full". Ends of the ribbon can be cut short or curled.

candies are put together on wide ribbon step 2 finish top and back of ribbon with hot glue gun step 3

Once a long (five-six inch) strand of the peppermints is completed you move on to attaching it to a large wide ribbon that will be the backdrop. An adult will need to assist with this portion to make sure it all stays in place. We made some flat folds at the top with the glue gun helping set them in place. One of the reasons to do this was to give us a loop at the top to be able to hang the candy hanger.

For hanging loop a thin ribbon through the top Step 4

The bottom edge of the ribbon was trimmed in a V shape. Once the glue was firm, we tied a small ribbon through the top and hung our new Candy Hanger on the door.
