clay pot santa

This simple Santa Claus craft can be made in any size. For demonstration, we've made it teeny weeny... Children can easily make them this size and they are very economical to make.

Five Tiny Clay Pots Materials Needed: 5 clay pots; paint (red, white, black); pom-pom of sorts or cotton balls. If using large pots, you may want to use large white styrofoam balls for the top of the hat and either white yarn (1-2 skeins) or leftover Halloween 'spider web'
Apply school glue to the top rim or bottom of the pots Using a craft or school glue, put a solid line of glue around the rim of the pots as shown in the pictures.
This is how they should look once glued together. This is how Santa should look glued together now. Let him dry.
Begin by painting the red areas. It's fun to see the red come together so start with red first, painting the pots as shown. You'll also want to paint one rim just below Santa's hat (see the finished product).
After the red has dried, move onto the black. We used a Sharpie to do Santa's belt since it was so easy to control on such a small space. If you are working on a larger pot, use paint. We painted the Santa's boots because it gives a better coverage.
Acrylic paint can "goop up" which is great because you can get a thicker look if you want which is exactly what we wanted for Santa's hat brim since we weren't adding fur.
We glued our cotton ball to the top and stretched one for Santa's beard. The final step is to draw on (or paint) Santa's face. If you've chosen large pots, sketch his face on in pencil then, paint over with black paint. Otherwise, just use a Black Sharpie. If you don't like the face, add more beard!
